Film fare
TRF will be screening two movies on the 13th of February in order to raise funds for our projects. The two movies will be ‘The Incredibles’ and ‘Blair Witch Project’. The movie times are from 1pm – 3pm and 5pm – 7pm. Tickets are priced at Rs 50/- for each movie. We’re screening the movies by way of a projector and will be shown at TRF HQ, 66/5 Green Path, Colombo 6, as we are trying to raise funds with as less costs as possible.
Proposal to build pre school
We’re planning to build a Pre School in Unawatune along with ‘Friends of Unawatune’. This Pre School will be situated at the temple which was already functioning as a Pre School. This was a makeshift shelter for the residents after the tsunami as it is situated on higher ground. The proposed site for the new Pre School is 200M from the beach, behind the temple and will also function as a community centre for the area.
Livin’ on a prayer
A rock concert has been organised in aid of TRF as another fund raising project. Many of Sri Lankas’ established bands will be featured at this concert namely Stigmata, Rattle Snake, Cancer, Ill Noize, and Venom. Other than these bands quite a few up and coming bands will also take to the stage at the CR&FC clubhouse. The concert has been entitled “Livin’ on a Prayer” and is scheduled to be held on the 19th of February, 7pm onwards. Tickets can be bought at the gate on afore mentioned date.
Kids camps
TRF will be travelling to Ahangama and Habaraduwa to conduct kids’ camps for two Pre Schools. We will be only conducting our music program as the kids are quite young. Six of our members will attend the camps and hope to conduct the camps during the first half of the day and get back to Colombo thereafter. We wish them all the very best and hope it turns out to be as successful as earlier projects.
